Tutorial: Easy Easter cupcake toppers!

As Easter is quickly approaching I decided to make a tutorial on how to make some easy Easter cupcake toppers (also I got a new camera for my birthday which I wanted to try out!)

What you will need:

  • Fondant
  • Pink food colouring
  • Black food colouring
  • Rolling pin
  • Non-stick mat for rolling fondant on

Step 1:

Roll out some of the white fondant and cut a circle using the circle cutters. I used the 3rd smallest of my set but you can use whichever size you want, depending on how big you want the finished toppers

Step 2:

Roll out 5 balls of fondant, 2 for the ears, 2 slightly smaller for the cheeks and one smaller for the teeth

Step 3:

Shape the larger two balls of fondant into ear shapes, long, flat and a little bit pointy at the top end

Flatten the smallest ball and place into position on face

Step 4:

Flatten remaining 2 balls into flat circles and place on face for cheeks, over teeth

Step 5:

Using the back of a knife make an indent for the front teeth.

Roll two balls of pink fondant

Step 6:

Flatten pink balls in the same way at ears and stick to white ears. Use a little water to stick the two together if required.

 Step 7:

Stick ears under face and curl up the ends

Step 8:

Mould small pink ball into a triangle shape and add for nose

Add two small circles of black fondant for the eyes

Done!

But every bunny needs a carrot..

What you need:

  • Orange fondant
  • Green fondant
  • Knife

Step 1: Roll out the ball of orange icing into a carrot shape. To get it nice and smooth roll it on the bench as though you are rolling a sausage but apply more pressure to one end to shape it. Flatten the fat end so the green can sit flush against it.

 Step 2: Flatten green ball of fondant and use knife to cut leaves. After cutting, mould it with your hands until you are happy with the shape

Step 3:

Stickthe green leaves to the carrot.

Use a knife to make indents on the carrot, across the width of the carrot

Finished!

Place them on some fresh cupcakes for a special Easter treat!
